The first step to live on a budget is to create a budget to guide you through the process. You simply put down your income and expenses on a paper starting by your bills and then the rest follow up.

Once you have a budget, you can divide the budget it 3 categories. The fixed budget which will cover all your bills. The savings budget, where you'll save part of your income. The variable expenses, things like leisure or unexpected expenses which are not really important.
After setting aside money for everything, you can organize your bank account by separating money for the bills, for savings and money for upcoming expenses. You also make sure you pay your bills on time.

You should also be tracking your expenses throughout to know where your money is going. This enables you to know whether the plan is working out or not.

When you begin to live on a budget you'll notice some change in your lifestyle. You'll feel less stressed knowing that everything is catered for without overspending. You can have meetings with yourself to know how the plan has been going on to figure out what has been working out well and what has not.
To live on a budget helps you to forego unnecessary expenses and make you focus on what is important for you.
